AirAsia Soars High With World’s First Frequent Flyer Programme
In the past few months, I found myself getting on planes more frequently than I have imagined. “2018 would be my travel year” – is what I promised myself last year and thankfully, I have been blessed with an influx of trips for both personal and business reasons. With this, I am always keeping my eye out for the best travel deals, accommodations that give value for money and of course – maximizing the points and reward systems that airlines offer. AirAsia’s BIG Loyalty App
There was a time in the past months that I’ve been flying to Singapore a lot and one of the airlines I travel with is the low-cost airline AirAsia. This Filipino favorite is bringing to your screen the world’s first ever Freedom Flyer Programme – designed to reward loyal guests with an easier, faster, and better way to earn AirAsia BIG Points – to the Philippines. I sometimes get frustrated when some airlines offer a point-system that takes AGES to redeem a flight. Guess what? AirAsia’s BIG Loyalty app will reward you based on how frequent you travel – NOT based on how much you spent on your fare and the distance. Easier and faster, right? Here’s how it works!

To begin and check your membership status / existing points, download the app! I have previously signed up on www.airasia.com so I simply entered my log-in information of my AirAsia online membership. If it’s your first time to do this – simply sign up!

2. The more flights, the faster to upgrade your status
When I logged on, I immediately saw my status is RED – I definitely will aim to go the next level up because the higher the status, the more BIG points you can earn. There are 4 levels of membership: Red, Gold, Platinum, and ultimately, Black. Here’s how to obtain it, frequency of one way flights per annum:
Red: 0-13
Gold: 14-23 – Perk: BIG points redeemed can multiply up to 3x for Low Fares and 4X for Premium Flex/Premium Flatbed Fares
Platinum: 24-49 – Perk: BIG points redeemed can multiply up to 5.5x for Low Fares and 7X for Premium Flex/Premium Flatbed Fares
Black: 50 and above – Perk: BIG points redeemed can multiply up to 10x for Low Fares and 12X for Premium Flex/Premium Flatbed Fares
*Everyone initially starts with a Red status where you will earn up to 20 BIG Points per PHP125 spent
3. Earn BIG points with over 160 partners nationwide to easily redeem flights to dream destinations
Aside from booking flights to redeem points, you can actually EARN to convert points with AirAsia’s BIG Loyalty App partners! Here are some ways you can get more points:
- Shopping on Zalora and keying in your AirAsia BIG membership number
- Converting your BPI Credit Card points into AirAsia BIG points
- More offers from popular Filipino brands such as Globe, Agoda, Petron, SM Hotels, etc

4. Start booking flights!
Now, once you have gathered all your points – let’s book those flights! Travellers with a minimum of 100 BIG Points can now redeem flights with BIG Points on airasia.com.
