2-in-1 Asus Transformer Book
All too recently, my 2008 laptop gave up on me and I was hoping to find an equally efficient laptop but also (and probably more importantly!), I wanted it to be affordable. I’ve been hearing good reviews about Asus laptops so I wanted to know more about it and actually try it out. I’ve been using the Asus Transformer Book T300FA for a week now, so keep reading if you want to know my thoughts about it. PS: it’s not called 2 in 1 for nothing! đ
For Work and Play
I was hoping to find a laptop that would be portable since I would be using it for blogging and work-related errands. The Asus Transformer Book T300 features a 12.5-inch screen which doubles as a Windows tablet. How cool is that? You simply detach the tablet to work and play anywhere. For work related things to do, you can dock the tablet on the full-sized keyboard and expands its storage. Here are 6 reasons why I love the Asus Transformer Book:
Portable and slim design
First, it’s a big factor for me that laptops need to be portable since I travel a lot. I always carry around a roomy tote bag and it needs to fit there but not be so heavy. I like the sleek textured design of the Asus Transformer Book T300. For a 12.5 inch screen, the weight of the laptop is pretty light and ultraportable cos of the detachable tablet.

Long battery life (6-8 hours)
Sometimes, when I can’t think of what to write, I end up wandering off for an hour or two just browsing my favorite sites. When I feel inspired, that’s when I resume writing my blog post. What I noticed about this laptop is the long battery life – it actually last for around 7 hours straight without recharging. I didn’t need to carry around the charger and I had the WiFi on most of the time.Â
Touchscreen | 12.5 Windows Tablet
We really exist in a multiple screen environment. Most of us handle at least 2 smart phones, own a tablet and always wired online or glued to social media. I love how the touchscreen feature of this laptop/tablet lets me easily search, zoom and quickly get the information I need. I enjoy scrolling down continuously article after article with the tablet. To get to the menu, you can easily swipe from the right hand side of the screen. It has multiple touch points to make your life easier.
For Play: Perfect for everyday blogging / photo editing
For all the articles I write, I end up storing hundreds of high-quality photos on my laptop. I think that’s one of the reasons that caused my old laptop to slow down, because of all the photos and videos I saved on it. With the Asus Transformer Book, I get up to 64GB of storage plus a microSD card reader that I can add 64 GB cards to expand the memory. I even installed all my editing softwares like Adobe Photoshop and it still performs fast and sharp.
For Work: Detachable tablet with 12.5 display
Working with brands require me to continuously present my portfolio and credentials to them. Before, I’d bring my old laptop and have to keep shifting the position of the laptop for them to see. Now, I can easily detach the screen and pass it around for them to see my presentation. How efficient! (It also amuses people whenever I detach the screen from the keyboard dock.)
High-definition IPS display
To be honest, I never noticed the difference of this until it was pointed out. In layman’s terms, the more high-definition your IPS display is, the more you can easily view your screen from different angles. With a 16:9 ratio, 1366 x 768-pixel HD resolution and in-plane switching (IPS) technology, you’ll love the bright, vivid images from literally any angle â thatâs 178 degrees of viewing clarity. With some laptops, you can barely see the screen anymore once sunlight hits. Good thing Asus has equipped the Transformer Book with an IPS panel that ensures the display content is visible from EVERY position. You can comfortably view your screen during shady days or when you’re outdoors.
