Most recently, Fairmont Makati launched contest: #MyDreamMACARON and challenged people to suggest dreamy macaron flavors. Out of hundreds of creative entries, Nikita Conwi’s macaron flavor idea was chosen as the winner which gave us an exclusive visit to the other side of these yummy desserts – how to make them.

Nikita, Filipina but emotionally French, loves the Parisian lifestyle and everything that goes with it. Her dream macaron flavor ideas were sooo good that I could not think of any other good flavor that she hasn’t thought of yet. Haha! Why was I there? Fairmont let her bring a companion and I’m so glad she thought of me, the ultimate sweet-tooth!

It amazes me how one can come up with so many flavors. For #MyDreamMACARON, we got the opportunity to work with award-winning pastry chef – Miko Aspiras! This young talented fellow has received many awards, local and international, through various baking competitions. A m a z i n g!!! Thinking: How do you manage to stay sexy?
Kellog’s Rice Crispies with gooey mashmallow
Ta-da! Nikita’s winner macaron flavor idea: Kellog’s Rice Crispies macaron! One of my ultimate favorite treats, transformed into a crispy, bite-size macaron. Yum! All of the ingredients were prepared upon arriving in the kitchen. Everyone was very excited to make it!
Chef Miko approved the macaron!
The whole pastry team together with the Marketing arm of Fairmont huddled together and unanimously picked Nikita’s idea. GOOD NEWS for all of you! The NIKITA macaron will be on sale soon in Cafe Macaron so it’s definitely something you should try 😉
Time to add the krispies!
It was such a fun experience and now, I appreciate macarons 100 times more and understand why they don’t come cheap. Macarons are SO fragile and you really need to be careful when you make them. Fairmont also uses quality ingredients for their exquisite desserts.
The icing on the macaron
For a day, we experienced how it was like to be behind the counters and do the real hard work in the kitchen. Guys, compliment the chef whenever you love what is served. They really give it their love and care in crafting your food! Cafe Macarons make their desserts fresh DAILY. Wow! 🙂

The final output! We truly enjoyed making our Kellog’s Rice Crispies macron with gooey mashmallow. To make it more memorable, Chef Miko even gave us his secret macaron recipe for us to try at home! Hmmm… I wonder if it’ll look the same? Haha!
