in Baler, Aurora
Living in the Philippines come with many travel perks. We have 7107 islands to take advantage of – but how do we go about it if it’s our first time? I’ve always wanted to go to Baler. Out of impulse – it finally pushed through and here are my tips for the first timers out there!
Aliya Surf Camp | Something Borrowed white mesh dress
First, always make lodging bookings ahead of time. Even if this trip was last minute, my friend and I immediately researched and made lodging arrangements. Good thing we did because when we got there, almost all the hostels were fully booked and it wasn’t even peak season.
in Sabang Beach, Baler
Of course When In Baler, you must try out surfing! BEFORE you react how difficult it looks and you’ve never tried, it is actually do-able for everyone. I, personally, do not know how to swim but with surf instructors in area, you can get a 1 hour lesson and a board rental for only Php350!
Bay’s Inn
Third, see your other options just incase you think of making a second trip. I’m already eyeing on Bay’s Inn and Costa Pacifica on my next stay. Be ready for a 6-7 hour drive so it’s pretty rewarding to book yourself in a pretty inn! 🙂
Clubbin’
Get ready to go sandwich clubbin’! Haha. Aside from the surfing, the food in Baler is actually very yummy and affordable. I recommend dropping by Bay’s Inn for merienda and Costa Pacifica for dinner and drinks.
Baler Surfer Grill
Just one of the pretty places I wanted to try but didn’t get to. Reason to come back! 🙂 The Baler shoreline is quite short so not really much to see but according to my friends, there are beautiful rock formations nearby!
COSTA Swimwear Kalini Bikini
Lastly, when you go surfing, wear the right gear! I’m grateful for this comfy and well-fitting bikini from COSTA Swimwear and it saved me from unwanted wardrobe malfunctions. Bring a rashguard too! To order or see more designs, Like COSTA Swimwear on Facebook and follow them on Instagram via @costa_swimwear.
Yuki Tansengco and Reginald Tan
First time surfers! Our cool instructors make us look so pro but the truth is, surfing is easy and anyone can try it. If you don’t know how to swim (like me), you can always request to be paddled to a shallow area.
Label M Sea Salt Spray & Dry Shampoo
My friends were asking how I kept my curls in place. This is my secret – dry shampoo! Right before going to Baler, I got a blo out in Blo Blow Dry Bar and used dry shampoo the day after. My hair didn’t feel oily at all!
Exclusively available in Blo Blow Dry Bar
You can get Label M products in Blo Branches (Serendra,Rockwell, Megamall and Mall of Asia). The Sea Salt Spray keeps my hair curly – in a loose natural way.

If you come between Dec-Feb, expect the weather to be chilly so bring a jacket. I was freezing!! Haha. So, I do hope you can visit Baler and let me know if these tips were useful! 🙂
Hang loose,
Yuki
